5. How to go through the KYC Process
- Once you get directed to the Onfido KYC verification page, you will be greeted a page like this. To get through KYC you have to go through all 3 steps (Liveness, Identity, and Proof of Residency). You must first click on Liveness, and go through the process.
2. Once you click on Liveness, you will be directed to a page that shows you the directions to follow for your picture (Center your face, remove accessories on your face, & ensure there’s no light reflection on your face). You should click “Next” to advance once you have read and understood these requirements.
3. Your computer may then ask you to grant Onfido access your camera, to to check your identity. Please click “Allow”.
4. Once that is done, you will be directed to this screen, where you will have to pose in front of your camera, and follow the instructions. In this case “Center your face”. Once you feel like your face is centered, press the circle at the bottom. This will take the picture of your face.
5. You will then be directed to a Review page which will show you how your picture turned out, and whether you have followed the directions. Click “Confirm” if there are no problems with your photo, or “Retry” if you need to take a better photo.
6. Once you confirm your photo, and there are no issues with it, a green “verified” will appear next to Liveness, as shown above. In this scenario, you can continue onto the next two steps. Identity and Proof of Residency. Let’s go in order, and click “Identity” first.
7. This will bring you here, where you must select which country the document you will upload will be from. You should choose the country you are from, which you have a passport/National ID of. You search that country in the search bar, and click on it.
8. Once that is done, you will be asked to select which type of document you wan to upload, Passport or National ID. Click on whichever one you want to upload.
9. This will direct you here, where you will be asked to select the capture method, ie. how you want to upload your document. You can choose to take a picture of it with the camera, upload a file of it from your computer or continue on your phone. If you choose to upload a file from your computer, click that button.
10. You will then be directed to this page, where you are instructed to upload the front side and back side of your National ID. Once that is done you will be directed to the main page.
11. Here you will be able to see the status of your previously completed identity process. It will say “Pending” while your documents are being reviewed, and will change to “Verified” once they have been accepted. Next you will have to complete the Proof of Residency, by clicking on that button.
12. Clicking on “Proof of Residency” will take you to this page. You will have to select the country that you are currently residing in. Your residence is legally defined by where you have your principal/permanent home, which can be factually supported. Therefore, use the search bar to find your country of residence and click that country.
13. Once you have confirmed your country of residence you will be taken to this page, where you will have to choose how you want to justify your country of residence. You will have to upload either a utility bill or a bank statement that proves your residence (ie. states your address and full name, and is not older than 3 months).
14a. If you choose to upload a utility bill you will be directed to this page, where you will have to upload a utility bill. Once you have done that successfully you will be taken back to the main screen.
14b. If you choose to upload a bank statement you will be directed to this page, where you will have to upload a utility bill. Once you have done that successfully you will be taken back to the main screen.
15. Once you have done all three steps, and they have been reviewed, you will see “Verified” next to each of the three steps on the main page. This means you have successfully passed the KYC process.
